I don't own a dog, but I know a lot of people who do. Are you dog owner? Would you like to be able to take your dog to a city park in Dubuque. Here's your chance to be heard.

The Dubuque Park and Recreation Commission will host a public input meeting regarding an ordinance proposal to allow dogs in the majority of city parks. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 18, at 5:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers on the second floor of the Historic Federal Building, 350 West Sixth Street.

The meeting is being held to allow residents to share feedback, comments, or concerns relating to the proposal with park and recreation commissioners. Residents will each be allowed up to two minutes to share their comments. The Dubuque Park and Recreation Commission, which serves in an advisory role to the City Council, is considering the ordinance proposal for recommendation to the City Council. The City Council would have to approve any change to the current ordinance. For a list of parks and trails where leashed pets are currently allowed, or to view the current proposed ordinance, visit www.cityofdubuque.org/parks or call 563-589-4263.

For further information on the commission’s proposal to change the current ordinance, please call Park and Recreation Commission Chair Ken Klinge at 563-557-8872.
