Well, we don't know about you guys, but we've resigned ourselves to our new nostalgia machine overlords. Their latest decree: the film reboot of the long-running 'Power Rangers' TV series will officially hit theaters in 2016. That gives you plenty of time to figure out an excuse for where you need to be that day -- whether that's an excuse so you can go see the movie or an excuse to avoid it is up to you. The power is yours. Wait. That was 'Captain Planet.'

Variety reports that Lionsgate's upcoming reboot of 'Power Rangers' will hit theaters on July 22, 2016. That's some awfully ambitious plotting for a movie reboot of a series featuring teenagers in rainbow-colored costumes piloting robotic vehicles that resemble dinosaurs to battle giant monsters, sometimes with really bad dubbing. It's basically like if you inserted classic Godzilla scenes into modern Disney channel programming. Actually, that kind of sounds just the right amount of wacky.

Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are writing the script for the new film, which is also being produced by Roberto Orci (will this movie have some sort of conspiracy theorist/truther element buried in its themes of teenage empowerment? Oh boy) and will breathe new life into the origin story of the teenage heroes.

The 'Power Rangers' will have to battle it out with Guy Ritchie's 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,' and we're not the betting type, but if we were, we'd say that a group of teenagers with superpowers and crazy alien fighting technology could probably wipe out Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer. Just a guess.
