Kelsea Ballerini's sophomore album, Unapologetically, is a 12-track journey through Ballerini's love life, from heartbreak to happily-ever-after with her husband, Morgan Evans. The 24-year-old wrote all of the dozen songs on Unapologetically, but she says there is one track that stands out for her, and for her fans.

"So far, I think "Miss Me More" is the favorite. I think that’s been the one that on social media,  that’s the one that gets the most reaction to," Ballerini shared with The Boot and other reporters at a recent media event. "But it’s been so fun. I’ve been writing for this thing for three years, and so to finally be able to start sharing the pieces of my life that I’ve been writing about but not necessarily sharing, it’s a really freeing thing. It’s been awesome."

While all of the songs on Unapologetically are personal to her own life, "Machine Heart" gives listeners a glimpse into some of the obstacles that Ballerini has overcome while finding her place in the music business. In part, the song says, "I forgot to cry when I was sad / I forgot to fight when I was mad / I made the moves that others would approve."

"I think, for a long time, especially being a young girl, it really makes you feel like you have to be perfect all the time: look perfect, say the perfect thing," explains Ballerini. "And then you realize, ‘What is perfect?’ It doesn’t exist. So then you’re exhausted and you’re not authentic and, more than anything, you’re not happy trying to be something that doesn’t exist."

Ballerini was nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year at the recent 2017 CMA Awards; the trophy went to Miranda Lambert, but if her first CMA Awards, in 2015, are any indication, she still found a way to celebrate.

"I’m a shoe person. And I’ve always wanted a pair of Louboutins, because they have a red bottom and all the girls wear them in movies and stuff ... And so, I told myself that if I won the CMA for New Artist of the Year that I would get a pair of Louboutins, and I lost," Ballerini shares, "and the next day, I bought Louboutins. So they’re my loser shoes; every time I wear them, I’m like, ‘I have my loser shoes on.'"

Ballerini is spending most of December and January at home (aside from her Dec. 2 getaway wedding to Evans) before she kicks off her own Unapologetically Tour in February. Although Ballerini loves the chance to take the stage night after night, she notes that, for her, there really is no place like home.

"I’m a homebody," she reveals. "I’m gone so much that when I’m home, I’m actually just home. And so, I should probably learn to cook at some point. Maybe that’s a hobby I’ll take up. I hang out with my dogs, and I’m just home. I’m super boring."

A list of all of Ballerini's Unapologetically Tour dates, for which Walker Hayes is serving as her opening act, is available on her website.
