Jon Langston is not yet officially signed to a record deal, but he's already finding quick success with his new single, "Forever Girl," and its newly-shot video, which he is debuting via Taste of Country.

The song is from Langston's new self-titled EP, which he released on Dec. 11. The project quickly ascended to No. 3 on iTunes and has consistently held onto the Top 10, while "Forever Girl" has garnered 1,032,806 Spotify streams to date, following in the footsteps of previous online indie successes "Showtime," "Running on Sunshine" and "She's So Georgia."

In fact, Langston has been so successful at Spotify that the leading streaming service has just named him to its 2016 spotlight program, which in turn will bring him to the attention of even more new fans.

The Georgia native's interest in music goes all the way back to a band he formed with some buddies in eighth grade, but he actually set it aside to pursue football, earning a scholarship to play at Garner-Webb University in North Carolina. He picked the guitar up again after multiple concussions sidelined him for good.

“It was hard but I knew it was the right thing to do," he says on his website. "I didn’t know what God had planned for my life at the time ... It is crazy how God closes one door and opens another. I had no idea what was ahead of me with the whole music world.”

The 24-year-old honed his own sound and built his fan base one show at a time, selling out venues all over the Southeast. One particularly gratifying gig was a headlining slot at the Georgia Theatre in November.

“To be given the opportunity to not only play on that stage, but to headline the theatre, where I’ve seen many acts perform such as Luke Bryan, Brantley Gilbert and Corey Smith, who are guys I look up to, it was an honor and a night I will never forget," he reflects.
