The city of Dubuque is offering a special Earth Day geocaching event in conjunction with Earth Day.  Here are the details:

In honor of Earth Day, the City of Dubuque Leisure Services Department will host a “Cache In, Trash Out” (CITO) event at the Lower Bee Branch Creek near the 16th Street bridge on Wednesday, April 20, from 5:30-7 p.m.

The CITO event includes trash pick-up (approximately one hour) of the Lower Bee Branch followed by a short geocaching session. Participants should meet at the creek maintenance building located just west of the 16th Street bridge. Gloves and trash bags will be provided. In advance of this geocaching activity, participants are welcome to visit www.geocaching.com to download the free Official Geocaching Intro app and set up an account. To locate caches, participants must bring a smartphone. CITO is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community.

This program is free and no registration is required. All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The CITO event is one of several educational programs that will be offered at the Lower Bee Branch this spring/summer. In partnership with local and regional organizations, the Leisure Services Department will provide nature and ecology based programs including geocaching, fishing, watershed education, nature art, and more. A full listing of activities will be available online at www.cityofdubuque.org/recreation.
