Dolly Parton has lent her voice to a character that will appear in an upcoming episode of the animated children's TV show Lily's Driftwood Bay. The country icon will portray Noleen, a famous singing chicken.

Lily's Driftwood Bay follows the adventures of a little girl, Lily, who creates an imaginary land from items she finds washed up on a beach. Parton's character will appear in an episode titled "The Salty Chicken," during which Noleen's luxury yacht ends up beached on Driftwood Bay during a storm.

“I’ve never played a chicken before, but I have been known to lay a few eggs!" Parton jokes in a press release, adding of her character, "Noleen is a very famous chicken, probably one of the most famous chickens ever there was."

Colin Williams, the creator and producer of Lily's Driftwood Bay notes, ""The Salty Chicken" was the first story outline that we wrote for Series 2, and it was always Dolly that I wanted. It took me a year to convince her, but what an honor to meet her, work with her and have her part of our special show. She’s an amazing and lovely lady ..."

The Lily's Driftwood Bay episode featuring Parton will air on Sprout on June 27; in the U.K., it will air on June 6 on Nick Jr.

Parton is one busy woman as of late: In addition to working on more made-for-TV movies for NBC, she's also set to begin an extensive tour in June.
