Cascade native Colin Rea apparently did enough to remain in the Major Leagues.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound right-handed pitcher from Cascade, Iowa, earned the fifth spot in the San Diego Padres’ starting rotation,  Colin worked out a lot this summer adding 20 pounds of muscle during the off season.  The 25 year old right-hander made his big league debut last August and finished 2-2 with a 4.26 ERA before the Padres shut him down for precautionary reasons.

"I definitely feel stronger," Rea told MLB.com in spring training. "I feel like overall, I'm using less stress on my arm. I haven't been as sore after the starts as I have been in the past. So I feel like I've incorporated more, using my legs and my core, rather than all arm.”
