Back to School Memories

As the kids head back to school this week or next, starting thinking back on some of my favorite back to school memories.  On of my favorite school memories started in Kindergarten in Cascade, IA.  I shared a table with 3 other 5 year olds.  Still remember their names...my neighbor and best friend Bart, a girl named Penny who lived a few blocks from my house, and a guy named Jim whom I had just met.  He came all the way from Bernard, IA.  Spend the whole school year at that table.  Eventually Bart, Penny and I went on the first grade in Cascade and Jim went to a different grade school in Bernard.  I didn't see Jim again until 7th grade when we ended up in the same home room at Cascade Junior High.  We became friends again and remained friends all the way through high school.  In fact I have Jim to thank for introducing me to my wife Shari(who happened to be his sister).  Shari and I dated throughout high school and eventually married, with Jim standing in as our best man.  28 years later we are still together(Shari and I, not Jim and I...).  So as your kids make new friends this school year...you just never know how things are going to turn out.  Here's to tons of great memories from this school year.   Ken
