Over the weekend I walked by some pretty cool "chalk" artwork on Grandview.  It's pictured here.

That work was worthy of an award.  Below are details of actual Art award winners recently in Dubuque.

On April 9, Dubuque Artists Donna Gibson and Alda Kaufman were Blue Ribbon Winners at the Iowa Artists Regional Show held at the Steeple Square Events Center (formerly St. Marys.)  Ms. Gibson won for her pastel, “Red Reflections” and Ms. Kaufman won two Blue Ribbons, one each for her watercolor paintings “Perfect Pasta” and “Centerpiece.” Barbara Heitzman received two Second Place ribbons for her pastel paintings “Birches” and “Orchids I. “ Ellen Henkels received a Third Place ribbon for her oil painting, “Angelina’s Chicken.  In addition, Ms. Henkels received an Honorable Mention for her oil painting “All Have Two Eyes, and Ms. Heitzman received an Honorable Mention for her pastel, ”Emily in the Mirror.”

 

What                           Iowa Artists, is a non-profit state organization for two and three dimensional artists.  The Region Art Show included artists from the following counties: Cedar, Clinton, Delaware, Dubuque, Iowa, Jackson, Johnson, Jones, Linn and Scott.)

 

Why                            The Iowa Artists Region #8 Art Show is held every year for current members to enter a maximum of 3 entries to be juried for qualifying for advancement to Iowa Artists State Show.  This year’s Blue Ribbon Winners will compete at the State Show in Fairfield, Iowa on May 14th.
